As Director of Global Innovation at GE, Steve Liguori led a global crowdsourcing program. Crowdsourcing helped to create a new design for a bracket to mount jet engines onto aircraft.
About 700 people from 56 countries tackled the GE Design Challenge. The winning design came from a Indonesian designer who had absolutely no aviation experience.
The resulting lightweight bracket not only lowers costs, but it also reduces weight, saves fuel, cuts costs and reduces carbon emissions.
